An attempt to show the differences in the perception of concept of traditional values by modern American and Canadian liberals. The attitude to the concept of traditional values is considered through the prism of attitude to such problems as the institution of marriage and the family, protection of childhood, the role of religion and attitude to migration processes. Using the example of the Democratic Party of the USA and the Liberal Party of Canada the author attempts to answer the question of how liberal forces use and reconsider concept of traditional values. The author pays special attention to programs of parties and the statements of politicians, analyzing the problems associated with these topics. The foregoing allows concluding that in the USA and Canada there are opposite trends. In the USA, where conservatives set the tone for political life, liberals are forced to use the concept of traditional values in their rhetoric. In Canada, liberals take the lead, and therefore the problems of traditional values are not so relevant.
