In the presented article, one of the traditional forms of leisure communication of the younger generation the folk tradition of youth evenings is considered from the position of disclosure and realization of its pedagogical potential. During the analysis of the problems of upbringing and formation of adolescents in modern conditions, the relevance of the use of traditional compensatory mechanisms of youth evenings is substantiated. The fundamentals of the principle of compensatory mechanisms of pedagogical influences are considered, including the use of specific methods and techniques to stimulate compensatory processes in adolescents. These techniques activate the preserved functions and are able to provide stable long term compensation. It is proved that these approaches can be successfully used in the field of culture, including folklore, where physiological and other deficits are compensated by means of folk pedagogy, and genetic memory is awakened. The analysis of agerelated psychophysiological features of the adolescent period is given and the conclusion is formulated that within the boundaries of the youth evening, such problems as lack of motor activity, intra group adolescent communication and socialization are solved; the processes of passing through difficult transitional stages, age crises, growing up, building relationships with the opposite sex, etc. are smoothed out. It is noted that the meanings and motives of the traditional evening through the song dance and game repertoire broadcast the basic spiritual values of the Russian Christian civilization: kindness, love, loyalty, forgiveness, etc. It is concluded that the immersion of teenagers in the environment of traditional culture and the participation of young people in the evening is an urgent problem of modern pedagogy.
