Research relevance: study of carpet weaving tradition, the process of weaving carpet like things makes it possible to consider them as one of sources that allow detailed understanding of general problems of ethnic history, ethno-cultural process and the continuity of cultural traditions. The study of carpet weaving traditions contributes to concept of ethnogenetic and ethnocultural connection with other related and neighboring ethnic groups. Research objectives: to reveal the features of carpets in the nomadic life of the Kyrgyz. Research materials and methods: the study used an empirical method, a survey of informants and a comparative analysis of traditional woven pile carpets and carpet products. Research results: carpets of various types in terms of technique and design were decorated outside and inside the walls of the yurt. The simple, but at the same time, the original furnishings of the nomadic dwelling mainly consisted of carpet products. Conclusions: the diversity of domestic use explains the difference in the forms of carpet products, among which there are woven pile bags (kurzhun), (tekche, bashtyk), pile sums (chavadans), woven namazlyks (zhaynamaz) and pile blankets (tokulgan at zhabuu).
