The interpretation of the concept of “career” in the context of modern trends

The article deals with the changes in the content of the concept of “career” under the influence of modern trends in social development. A comparative analysis of the definitions in the literature shows that the language of the term under review has been changed over time towards a deeper understanding of the fundamental aspects of career formation and the attendant changes in personality. The paper substantiates the importance of managing career development at all levels because the right career choice is the basis for life satisfaction of an individual, the effectiveness of a company, and the economic stability of the state as a whole. The notion of career is considered by means of the systematic approach. The author presents the original definition of a career as a process of achieving its objectives based on the initial data (profile, social group, age range) with the direct involvement of the individual in relation to the strategy for the employees’ career development applied in the company or at the enterprise.
