Transdiscursive semantic analysis of the term "mediation”

The article provides a definitional analysis of the term "mediation", which is implemented in different spheres of human life, namely conflictology, international relations, education, and professional communication. The semantics of the term "mediation" implemented in conflictology and international relations forms the basis on which the semantics of the same terms implemented in other fields is elaborated. The article provides definitions of mediation presented in online open access dictionaries (Slovafry.ru, Academic.ru, Macmillan Dictionary, The Free Dictionary by Farlex, Oxford Learner's Dictionary, Cambridge Dictionary). Special attention is paid to the content of the term "linguistic mediation", the semantics of which is derived from the definitions presented in the publications indexed in Elsevier Scopus. Based on the semantic composition of the word "mediation", we draw conclusions about the inherent elements of transdiscursive and transcultural mediation and the dimensions of its effective implementation.The article may be useful for researchers in the field of cognitive linguistics, translation studies, and teachers of foreign languages and disciplines related to the basics of professional, business, and intercultural communication.
