In the autobiographical myth created by the poet and philosopher Vyacheslav Ivanov, A. S. Khomyakov was given a prominent place. The theorist of symbolism mentioned his name and emphasized his proximity to the Slavophile tradition. He also specially used the term “sobriety” in the articles devoted to the “theatre of the future”. But Ivanov erected the building of his metaphysics on a foundation, which was based on the myth of Dionysus being torn apart by titans. The theorist of symbolism believed that people by nature are already humanities. Such views led to the fact that the ideas of A. S. Khomyakov underwent radical transformations in Ivanov’s work. From the term “sobornost” there was only a verbal shell, while the semantic content turned out to be radically different. Following the logic of the Dionysian myth, Ivanov understood sobriety as “universality.” It also acquired certain features of parliamentary democracy from him due to the fact that the poet did not put Christ at the forefront, but the artisttheurg. In the finale of the article, it is concluded that Ivanov’s classification as “epigones of Slavophilism” was not so groundless.
