Capital transformation in the modern economy: digital data capital

The paper discusses the transformation of some types of capital in the digital economy and substantiates the need to consider digital data capital. The role, significance, and functions of data in the modern economy are systematized. The features of data as an asset are clarified; the features of data as a special type of capital, their influence on the development of business models and management practices are considered. The increasing role of data is observed based on the analysis of the ICT sector in European countries. The authors reveal the impact of the development of data capital on all types of capital and the possibilities for the effective functioning and development of economic entities. The necessity of developing the theory of the digital economy is substantiated.
