Transport system of the region: content and role in spatial development

The article explores the spatial features of the development of transport systems, analyzes the basic concepts. On the basis of the developed models of the transport system («imperial» and the «development» model), the role and influence of the transport industry on the strategies and tasks of the state are demonstrated. The trends and problems of regional management in the transport sector are shown, including the question of creating a single transport system of regions. The considered processes ultimately raise the question of creating scientific tools and technologies capable of creating and solving the problems of the transport system as a whole and by region.
