Three-termed nominative similes in S. King's idiostyle

Бесплатный доступ

The article analyzes translations of three-termed nominative similes. Numerous linguists (V.N. Fedortsova, E.A. Koshcheeva, L.S. Barkhudarov, etc.) were engaged in the investigation of simile translation. This paper is aimed at the identification of the influence of simile translation on the perception of individual writing style. Similes were selected using the continuous sampling method from five S. King’s works; their analysis was carried out using a comparative method. The translation techniques used in translating similes helped the translator adapt to the author’s idiostyle. The results achieved in this article can be used to translate not only S. King’s works, but also the works of other writers. In further investigations, it seems relevant to study other types of similes and analyze the impact of their translations on the change in the individual writing style perception.
