Hard-crossing border: religious themes in stage art of 21st century

In stage art of early 21st century the tendency appeared to erosion of borders between religious and secular thematic. This tendency is determined by general aim of postmodern art at deconstruction of any kind of borders and distinctions. But religious creation has organic specifics that distinct it in kind from secular art. Owing to this circumstance, the attempts to use Christian thematic in stagings come into collision with resistance of material. The analysis of stagings made in Novosibirsk’s theatres in 2013 allows to make conclusions about sense positions in which non-adequacy of artistic method to the material is being revealed. The possibility to deal with subjects and senses of religious culture by means of art appears to be more problematic than it seems at first glance.
