The study presented an integrated methodology for assessing labor migration trends based on the statistical methods and the results of the representative social research conducted in the territorial entities of the North Caucasus Federal District. A combination of different analysis techniques made it possible to investigate the regional labor markets by statistical and sociological research methods. The author proposed an integrated assessment technique consisting of the quantitative and qualitative analysis of labor market statistical information in the North Caucasus Federal District, the sociological survey, and the analysis of the determinants of labor migration dynamics in the region. The research methods were tested in the constituent entities of the North Caucasus Federal District in July-September 2017. The research focused on young people living in this district. Following results were obtained. The author ranked the most significant social problems of the younger generation. The respondents’ migration moods were examined. The labor markets in the entities were structured. The author identifies that most of labor markets in the district face high unemployment rate caused by the structural imbalances in the economic sector and the total imbalance in the training system that ignore the labor markets regional peculiarities. The study reveals that the integrated assessment technique is effective as it includes both statistical data and subjective views of survey respondents. The statistical and sociological analysis techniques combined to examine various aspects of the region’s social and economic situation generate the information platform that should become the basis for making managerial decisions in the field of prospective territorial development, for example, labor market analysis and its forecasting.
