Labor values and labor motivation of modern urban youth of Kazakhstan

The article examines the transformation of labor values of modern Kazakhstani youth in the conditions of modernization of Kazakhstani society during the current global economic crisis. The gender peculiarities of the labor values of the young generation were revealed and a hierarchy of life values of young people was constructed. The results of empirical sociological research data show the presence of significant gender differences in the labor values of modern Kazakh youth, manifested in the desire of women for autonomous values (self-development), and men - for material values. The impact of global transformation processes on a Kazakhstani society, as well as the crisis phenomena in the economy in the 2010s were an impetus to a decrease in the popularity of traditional values associated with the desire for self-realization in labor activity, on the labor motivation of young people. However, such values as “interest in labor” and “labor results” remain important for Kazakhstani youth. The study revealed the correlation of labor values with the real motives of occupational choice and employment strategies of modern Kazakhstani youth.
