In the article, based on the materials of late socialism, the issue of agricultural labor resources in Yakutia is actualized, which is inspired by interest in socio-economic processes in the Arctic regions of Russia. It is noted that the current range of literature does not correspond to the place and role of agricultural occupations in the history of the republic. On the basis of published and archival documents, quantitative and qualitative characteristics of workers of state farms in the period of the 1960s-1980s are highlighted; It is shown that workers in the agricultural sector accounted for a small share in the regional structure of the employed, which continued to decline throughout the period. Problems in using the labor of state farm workers, providing them with decent working and living conditions were not overcome, which led to a high turnover of labor. Already in the 1970s, the “female face” of active migration from Yakut villages was formed. In conclusion, the necessity of new versatile studies for the reconstruction of the Soviet history of the labor resources of Yakutia is indicated.
