Fishing and tourism are fundamental components of Mexico's coastal economy. Despite this, the traditional development model, based on the overexploitation of natural resources, has generated environmental and social impacts that threaten the sustainability of both activities. This article analyzes the relationship between sustainable tourism and artisanal fishing as complementary aspects for promoting local development and the conservation of marine and coastal ecosystems. It highlights the importance of integrating the traditional knowledge of fishing communities with responsible tourism practices, focused on diversifying economic activities and strengthening cultural identity in Mexico's coastal regions.
