Tourist and recreation clusters in the tourism and hospitality development in the Russian Federation

According to the tourism development strategy in Russian Federation, the creation of tourist and recreational clusters is priority in the structure of the organization of activities. The article is focused at tourist and recreational clusters in the Russian Federation. The research purpose is to analyze the activities of existing tourist and recreational clusters and to formulate proposals for their further development. Creating tourist and recreational clusters is accompanied by formation of competitive tourist destinations, including temporary accommodation, display facilities, a full-fledged tourist infrastructure (convenient logistics, catering, trade and entertainment industry). The research results are following: 1) the essence of tourist and recreational clusters is clarified; 2) the performance indicators of tourist and recreational clusters and tourist and recreational special economic zones in Russian Federation are identified; 3) the proposals for improving the state administration and economic activities of resort and recreational clusters are formulated. The scope of application of the research results are regions with resort and recreational specialization. It’s recommended to continue the study of regions with resort and recreational specialization from the perspective of the cluster approach.
