Tuva: dialogue of cultures in past and present (based on Otto Menkhen-Khelfen's book «Travel to Asian Tuva»)

The article is based on the book of the German traveller Otto Menkhen-Khelfen, who visited Tuva in 1929. The author investigates complex relations of Tuva with China, Russia and Tibet in the past and present. The paper follows the principle «What was at Menkhen-Khelfen`s time-» and «What happens now-» The main subjects of analysis is the dialogue of Tuvan culture with Chinese, Russian and Tibet cultures in different aspects. The article also is based on archive documents and field-work materials of the author.
