Creativity of the irkutsk artist B. I. Lebedinsky (1891–1972)

Artistic events are a source for acquainting visitors with the achievements of the Russian art. The Irkutsk painter, master of landscape and graphics B. I. Lebedinsky was engaged in creating exhibition spaces in the cities of Baikal Siberia in the early XX century. The artist sought to unite the artists’ efforts in the field of organizing museum activities, developing creative spaces and communities. Boris Ivanovich prepared albums of painting that depicted the Moscow Gates, the Irkutsk ostrog, Baikal, Arshan and many others. Participating in the scientific expeditions the master collected the materials about the monuments and memorable places, natural and architectural landmarks of the Siberian cities. The work considers B. I. Lebedinsky’s creativity and painting albums in the context of creating artistic images of Lake Baikal and reconstructing the events of the past centuries. As a result of the study, the activities of the Siberian master in preserving the architectural heritage of Baikal Siberia are confirmed. It is noted that the painting albums of Boris Ivanovich provided the creative community with the opportunity to continue creating the artistic canvases, graphic works reflecting the history of the region.
