Russia's participation in saving world cultural heritage sites in Syria (2016–2024)

The subject of this article is the Russian Federation's participation in the rescue of Syria's World Cultural Heritage monuments. This campaign is presented, on the one hand, as an instrument of the Russian Federation's humanitarian influence in the 21st century within the framework of bilateral and multilateral international cultural cooperation; on the other hand, as an action that contributes to the formation of a positive image of Russia in the international arena. Russia's participation in the rescue of the monuments of ancient Palmyra is presented through the prism of acquiring significant experience in the field of rescue archaeology.
