Some historical material disclosing the organization of the teaching and educational process in the maiden institute of Eastern Siberia in the second half of the XIX century is presented in the article. Complications, successes and problems of the development of the maiden institute of Eastern Siberia, the effectiveness of its work as a result of curriculum and syllabuses perfection, teaching and material basis improvement, personnel qualification level upgrade are described.
