The paper discusses the role of training text in teaching professionally oriented reading of specialized literature in foreign languages. It covers mechanisms, principles and ways of creating a training text. A targeted adaptation of the authentic scientific text is concluded to be the most suitable way of creating the training text. The paper shows the importance of preserving main text components, including compositional and meaning text structure to shelter text informative value.
