Socializing influence of the media in the process of educating modern high school students

The authors substantiate the need to take into account the socializing influence of the media in the process of educating modern high school students. The role of the media as a factor in the socialization of high school students is revealed. The recreational-relaxation, compensatory, information-educational and normative functions of the media, implemented in the process of socialization of high school students, are singled out. A special place is occupied by the description and analysis of data from an empirical study conducted on the basis of general education schools in Penza. The authors' questionnaire was used as a research method, developed on the basis of the identified functions of the media as a factor in the socialization of high school students. The study showed the decisive role of the media in the implementation of the information and educational function in the process of socialization of high school students, as well as the main role of the family and peer groups in the implementation of the normative function. Based on the data obtained, recommendations are formulated for the education of modern high school students, taking into account the socializing influence of the media.
