The satisfaction of the population of the Republic of Kalmykia with the information openness of the local government: the results of annual sociological monitoring

In the context of the ongoing state and municipal government reforms, the transition to a service state model, the information openness of various levels of government is of particular relevance. The society is now entitled to demand the openness and transparency of management decisions from state and municipal government. On the one hand, sociological surveys of the population in this regard make it possible to study the current situation in the field of information openness of local governments. On the other hand, they are an effective tool for getting feedback from the population. The study presents a comprehensive analysis of the views of the population of the Republic of Kalmykia on the information openness of local governments. The annual sociological monitoring (2018) identifies the level of citizens’ satisfaction with information openness, reveals the reasons for respondents’ negative assessments of this indicator, analyzes the answers of respondents according to social and demographic characteristics (gender, age, place of residence, education, financial situation). The emphasis is placed on several factors influencing the opinion of citizens and the existing problems in this field.
