The article highlights the main aspects and directions of state policy aimed at ensuring economic security: the fight against corruption, the shadow economy, and economic crimes. The article provides statistical data that demonstrate that the level of economic crime remains high, and the damage caused by these crimes is significantly increasing. This raises questions about the effectiveness of the current criminal policy in this area. The article also notes that the criminal policy in Russia is in crisis: numerous changes in legislation are not leading to the desired results, and the lack of a unified criminal policy concept is exacerbating the problem. The authors focus on the unreasonableness of certain criminal law norms, as well as on the need for more thorough criminological work to develop effective measures to counter economic crime. Thus, the main idea of the article is that improving economic security requires a comprehensive approach that includes not only combating economic crimes, but also systemic reform of criminal policy in Russia with a focus on scientific justification and criminological research. Without these measures, it is impossible to achieve the goals set out in the Russian Economic Security Strategy until 2030.
