Ultramicrostructure cells of mucosa superficial epithelium of chickens proventriculus

The superficial epithelium of the proventriculus in chickens is simple columnar (cylinder) and glandular. Its cells are arranged in one layer, which lies on the basal membrane. They are characterized by a high synthesizing activity which is caused by means of well developed synthesizing secretory organelles and inclusions presented in the cytoplasm. There are isolated M-cells between epithelial cells. M-cells have a light cytoplasm with mikrofolds and poorly developed organelles.
