The article reconstructs the collective professional and political portrait of law professors as a special corporation in classical Russian universities. This corporation is considered in the context of the most controversial, complex, but at the same time the most alternative period in the history of our country - during the revolutions, the Civil War and the early years of Soviet power. During this period, the most radical transformations took place in the Russian statehood and social structure, the paradigms of most political, social, interpersonal, cultural and other processes. The reaction to these changes, the feedback and the response of the law professors is very revealing. Jurisprudence is a special socio-humanitarian science, and the law faculties of classical Russian universities throughout the previous imperial period carried out a specific mission to train personnel, mainly for public service and the public sphere. Sustainable statehood, the inviolability of its legal foundations, and the priority of law have always been for lawyers a factor of the positive development of the state and society. The events of the 1910s - 1920s radically changed and turned the professional life and attitudes of university lawyers upside down. Through the analysis of the collective professional and political portrait of law professors in the Asian part of Russia, its changes during the Civil War and the first years of Soviet power, their political and legal views on the events, their participation in political and scientific-pedagogical activities, their contribution to the development of legal science and higher legal education in Asian Russia are analyzed.
