The article turns to the problem of the specific features of using the determinant «today» in sentences of the conjugated-verbal class with predicates of different lexical-semantic membership. The author aims to determine not only the differences, but also the similarities in meaning and grammar, which arise in the translation of such sentences from Russian into German. Another important task is the analysis of the lexical-semantic compatibility of verbal word forms with this temporal modifier in such sentences, which is attempted in the article. The theory of determination in the syntax of modern Russian language causes considerable interest among linguists. However, it has not been studied so well by specialists in German linguistics. German literature and speech as a whole demonstrate a wide usage of temporal semantics modifiers.
