Augmented and mixed reality (AR/MR) technologies, which are rapidly evolving, are an important topic of modern research. Despite the large number of papers on the subject, the social aspect of such processes has some scientific significance. The purpose of this study is to investigate the possible social consequences of the virtualization of social relations. The analysis of theoretical materials led to the conclusion of the successful adap-tation of AR/MR technologies to distance and simulation formats and their implementation in education, healthcare, and the consumer sector. According to the results of the author's pilot sociological study, university students are familiar with AR/MR technologies and have practical experience with their application, which requires social control, normative management, and regulation. The findings contribute to resolving issues related to the continued use of AR/MR technologies in order to reduce the potential social costs.
