The article discusses the importance of physical education in higher education. The role of physical culture in maintaining and strengthening health, improving working capacity, and the level of physical fitness is revealed. The effectiveness of the effect of jumping exercises on the body is proved. The expediency of using jumping exercises in physical education classes at the university in order to increase physical fitness is revealed. A study was conducted. The growth of the development of speed - power, speed qualities of the subjects was revealed. The exercises of jumping orientation, developing basic physical qualities, are presented. The received information is analyzed.
