The article is a response to the publication of the book "Blockade Pedagogy" (authors - I. A.Kolesnikova, N. V.Gruzdeva, L. V.Derbilova. - St. Petersburg: Rostock Publishing House, 2022. - 556 p.). The author's reflections on approaches to the study of the multifaceted phenomenon of blockade pedagogy, on the commonality of methods of pedagogical activity of blockade teachers in working with students are presented. In the situation of the lack of necessary and habitual teaching tools in peacetime, the teacher's oral word became almost the only pedagogical tool. A lot depended on how much the blockade teacher owned it. Long-term retellings by teachers for memory and reading fragments of literary works (verbal clarity) took place against the background of a general increase in the importance of book culture in the lives of both children and teachers. The book became not only a means of escape from the ruthless reality, but also a moral yardstick, an opportunity to gain spiritual support.
