The article defines the role of human potential in the modern world. The development of human potential, reducing its quality are of particular relevance for the development of directions for their prevention in the social sphere. Now it is characterized by significant changes in our life, the article presents ways to adapt humanity to the new reality. The meaning of the components of the human development index is disclosed. The data on the analyzed indicators are given on the example of the Russian Federation for 2021/2022.
