In the first place in the work on the dictionary is the necessary to teach the child to use the word in context so that he can correctly apply it in speech. In addition, the work on the word includes the study of its form, grammatical features, spelling and pronunciation. One of the methods of working on a word is reading. Reading a variety of literature allows you to expand your vocabulary and get acquainted with the different meanings and uses of words in different contexts. It is also important to encourage the child to use new words in his speech and discuss their meanings and usage examples. This includes working on understanding the context, comparing information, building logical connections and conclusions. By developing the ability to use words and phrases in context and speech situations, a child can develop the ability to form coherent utterances and freely choose linguistic means for using words and linking them in a certain sense. Such skills are very important when studying at school. In this article we will consider the role of oral folk art in enriching the vocabulary of older preschool children. The study of the possibility of vocabulary development in older preschool children. Oral folk art makes it possible to eliminate difficulties in mastering the grammatical structure of speech, enrich and develop a child's vocabulary. Interests in words and speech expand the knowledge and horizons of older preschool children. The research task is to determine the potential of oral folk art in the development of vocabulary competence of older preschoolers. Based on a thorough review and analysis of relevant psychological and pedagogical sources, the essence and features of dictionary development in preschool institutions were identified; pedagogical possibilities of oral folk art in preschool educational organizations are considered; the possibilities of oral folk speech that contribute to the development of speech of an older preschooler are described. A project of the teacher's work has been developed aimed at developing the vocabulary of an older preschooler through oral folk speech.
