The article reveals the phenomenon of utopia, the interest in which arose in the ancient world as a desire to move away from imperfect reality and build a perfect world. In this article the subject of the research is utopia as a form of existential isolation, in which the possibility opens up on the inner plane of consciousness to create an ideal world that can obscure the existing reality. The purpose of the article is a philosophical analysis that allows comprehending this phenomenon and identify its new facets, including the existential experience of the subject, aimed at gaining the value of individual differences. Using elements of historical and philosophical reconstruction, the article analyzes utopian ideals from antiquity to the present day. Hermeneutical and psychoanalytic analyses were also used in the study. Such a synthesis of approaches allows considering utopia as a form of existential isolation and contributes to the development of reality during a crisis. Numerous crises of the modern world (political, economic, environmental, social, psychological) give rise to a number of problems, the illusory way out of which is to escape from reality. Utopia as a form of the ideal world, which opposes itself to reality, becomes an urgent topic of philosophical reflection again. The inexhaustible interest of thinkers of different generations in the problem of an imperfect world and the construction of utopian concepts not only reveal new facets of this phenomenon, but also cause a number of discussions, which allows concluding that this phenomenon is contradictory and ambiguous. The authors come to the conclusion that utopia acts not only as one of the signs of the crisis state of society, but also as a stimulating form of self-awareness that allows understanding and accepting yourself in the present.
