Patterns of personality structure of police cadets and officers

Most studies on patterns of personality deal with the behavioral models rather than a pattern of the personality (E.V. Kalinina, A.A. Ambartsumyan, I.I. Borodina, M. Puklek, A. Gril). The patterns of mental resources (K.R. Kapieva) and the pattern of three components of resilience (T.V. Konyukhova) are described in relation to the personality structure. Visual patterns of the personality are presented by models in the form of the graph, histogram, petals, pyramid, circle, matryoshka doll, correlation pleiade. Such a variety of models can be explained by not only various concepts but also the lack of a single universal diagnostic tool. The rules of experimental data analysis are rarely taken into account. The paper presents the results of a survey of 1,351 police officers and cadets (1,016 males and 335 females) based on the Individual Typological Questionnaire by L.N. Sobchik and Weapon Test Battery. A comparative analysis of personality patterns is carried out in the form of a standard histogram and the iceberg pattern. The personality model can be simultaneously consistent with three principles of synergy, compensation and minimization in the form of a butterfly pattern. In the Individual Typological Questionnaire, “butterfly wings” demonstrate the qualities of the personality that are genetically determined and have been formed during the life. In Weapon Test Battery, the genetically determined qualities are at the top. The quality characteristics of the personality of police officers include the invariant element that is the minimum and necessary requirement for external and internal adaptation to the changing contexts of the profession. It is reflected in the “wings” of the butterfly pattern.
