The article examines V. I. Lamansky's views on the formation of Russian civilizational consciousness. V. I. Lamansky formulated the origins and genesis of Slavophilism and its original moral motive, which was common with Westerners; highlighted the historiosophical basis of Slavophilism (the principle of the change of civilizations). V. I. Lamansky's insight into the future world mission of Orthodoxy is important. At the same time V. I. Lamansky was a representative of “intellectual Slavophilism” rather than an authentic folk worldview.
