The article reviews the reception of the myth about Anton Pavlovich Chekhov and the myth of «case people» created by Vyacheslav Piezuh. The article says that these myths have different versions and proves that their collision is important for the interpretation of works by V. Piezuh. The author provides examples of using both myths, reviews from different angles the myth about the personality of Anton Chekhov and the myth of the "case people", shows their origins and modern versions. These myths are portrayed in the following works by writer V. Piezuh: the collection of essays "Debates about writers", the novel "Life of remarkable people", the stories "Valuable features", "Our man in a case", "Man in the corner", "The closet", "Uncle Senya", "Gooseberry", "D.B.S".
