Bank of Japan interventions: reasons and consequences

The article is dedicated to the theory and practice of intervention. Principle theoretical approach to the choice of intervention methods implementation, money markets instruments, assessment criteria of intervention effects are examined. Official interventions practice in Japan is comprehensively considered, the overvalued yen to basic world currencies rate effects are analyzed, the reasons for the current Bank of Japan intervention are determined,its effectiveness is being estimated.
