The Great Patriotic War 1941-1945: the problem of interpretation in the Russian and American history textbooks

The article presents the results of a research, which was conducted by pupil under the guidance of a history teacher. The study is devoted to a comparative historical analysis of the interpretation of the history of World War II and the Great Patriotic War in Russian and American history textbooks. The authors have identifi ed controversial problems, established the ideological foundations of historical interpretations. The article can be claimed by teachers as an experience of research work with students.
