Vertical urbanism of the architectural environment of the city: modern development of typology of high-rise buildings

The article emphasizes that the uncontrolled urban sprawl is one of the most serious problems on the planet. The essence of the concept of «vertical urbanism» is revealed. The issue of the need to create a comfortable living environment in modern cities, by building a new generation of high-rise buildings, is being raised. It is emphasized that multifunctional high-rise buildings are an effective and rational means of increasing the density of the urban environment. Two variants of the spatial concentration of the urban environment along the vertical are considered, which are currently actively developing within the framework of the concept of «vertical urbanism». To illustrate the positive and negative characteristics of these areas, illustrative examples from the world's best practices in the design and construction of multifunctional high-rise buildings and complexes are given. The prerequisites and innovative technical solutions for the development of more rational urban planning and spatial planning structures are analyzed.
