Thing as a symbol and translator of collective values in the Kyrgyz traditional culture

On the basis of examples from ritual and ceremonial practice of the Kyrgyz traditional culture as a way of embracing a thing in the symbolical space of culture, the article considers the nature of thing as a symbol, keeper and translator of collective values. Based on the structural and semiotic approach, the author discusses functional and symbolical life of things in the Kyrgyz traditional culture, which, having a high “semiotics status" (A.K. Bayburin) and an own “language", transfer collective ideas about the supreme values of the nomadic culture in concentrated and symbolically rich form.
