Politeness as an element of the communicative culture of librarians

The article is an attempt to reveal the importance of polite behavior of library professionals to effective interaction with the library readers. The issue of features of communicative behavior of Russians is touched, the accounting of which national specifics of expectations will allow the librarian to build adequate communicative strategy. It is shown how instructions of authors of concepts of politeness are realized in library. The principle of cooperation of P. Grays, the acceptability of his postulates for productive library service is considered. The imperatives included in rules of politeness R. Lakoff in the context of library communication are analyzed. The author of article states belief that following to J. Lich’s maxims will provide tactful and frictionless interaction between participants of library communication. The provisions of the theory of “linguistic etiquette” P. Brown and S. Levinson allowing to avoid causing damage to “the social person” the user of library services are provided.
