Species Composition of Water Beetles (Coleoptera: Adephaga, Polyphaga) of the Lenkaran Natural Region of Azerbaijan

Presents generalized data on the species composition of aquatic beetles recorded in the Lankaran natural region of Azerbaijan. The study is based on the analysis and systematization of available literature data. According to the results of the review, the aquatic beetle fauna of the region is represented by two suborders, Adephaga and Polyphaga, comprising 62 species belonging to 27 genera and 7 families. The suborder Adephaga includes 46 species from 4 families: Gyrinidae Latreille, 1810; Haliplidae Aubé, 1836; Noteridae Thomson, 1857; and Dytiscidae Leach, 1815. The highest species diversity within this suborder is observed in the family Dytiscidae (34 species), whereas the families Gyrinidae, Haliplidae, and Noteridae are represented by 4, 6, and 2 species, respectively. The suborder Polyphaga is represented by 16 species belonging to 3 families: Dryopidae Billberg, 1820; Hydrophilidae Latreille, 1802; and Helophoridae Leach, 1815. Among them, the family Hydrophilidae predominates with 13 species, while Dryopidae and Helophoridae include 1 and 2 species, respectively.
