The article describes the socio-cultural function of the virtual museum, which is the possibility of introducing primary schoolchildren to the historical and cultural heritage. Familiarization of younger pupils with museum expositions online is an effective pedagogical tool for the formation of such components of students' sociocultural competence as imaginative thinking, speech and audiovisual culture. The author describes a variety of creative tasks based on viewing virtual excursions as part of classroom and extracurricular activities that contribute to socio-cultural development.
