Bovine viral diarrhea-mucosal disease is an infectious, acutely occurring, highly contagious disease that is widespread throughout the world, including the Russian Federation. The disease has a wide range of clinical symptoms and causes immunosuppression, digestive, respiratory and reproductive disorders. As a result of these systemic disorders, the livestock farms of our country have significant economic losses (especially dairy and meat areas of cattle breeding). Analysis of data of articles and monitoring studies for 2010-2023 showed that wide circulation of bovine viral diarrhea-mucosal disease was detected on farms in the Russian Federation. Monitoring studies for detection of bovine viral diarrhea virus among the cattle are carried out in all federal districts, most of which occurs in the Central (CFD) and the Volga (VFD) federal districts. According to the results of serological studies, it was found that the most intense epizootic situation is in the CFD, the North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) and the Urals Federal District (UFD). Thus, an extensive review of data of articles showed that the most important condition for reducing the tension of the epizootic situation due to viral diarrhea-mucosal disease among cattle and reducing economic losses is timely diagnosis of animals and the creation of comprehensive livestock protection programs, such as: epizootic monitoring, specific prevention with vaccination, identification and elimination of persistently infected animals, the creation of "closed" herds.
