This article examines the question of the true purpose and meaning of the life of a Russian person, raised in the work of Georgy Sviridov. The poetic world of every major composer reveals a natural tendency to develop several lines of work simultaneously. It is proved that in the field of view of G.V. Sviridov there have always been themes: «life and death», «the meaning of life», «spiritual feat» and «spiritual immortality», «the fate of man», «moral purity». Sviridov reflected on Russia's glorious past and the fate of its Orthodox monks, but could not refrain from reflecting on the modern world, which was in deep crisis due to the decline of faith and the destruction of Christian sanctities. Hermeneutical analysis and comparative method allowed to reveal the author's innovations, the peculiarities of musical reflection of Sviridov - an outstanding representative of the Russian musical culture of the XXth century. His work is an example of Russian culture, which has created a set of spiritual formations, ethical and aesthetic norms, moral imperatives, unique artistic images of Russia. The novelty of the research lies in the fact that for the first time the instruments of vitalism are considered in the light of G.V. Sviridov’s philosophical reflection, which today is in particular need of a new research interpretation.
