Analyses the contribution of different economic theoretical schools and directions in the development of ideas about competition. The author of the Act, that the development of human relationships in different historical epochs, conceptual ideas about competition tended to complicate. The competition itself as an economic category is becoming more meaningful and relevant for individuals and for society as a whole. The author notes that the term view in different historical epochs competition had its content. In antiquity, the competition is the main motive of conduct households in the middle ages - the type of behavior in the Renaissance - a way to fight. During the formation of the classical teachings of economic thought, under the competition understand knowledge systems, defines the notion of competition. Further development of competition is a scientific basis, resulting in the allocation model competition and variety of concepts and structure of categorical competition.
