Issues of representing power in visible images and rituals have long attracted researchers. The monograph by B. L. Shapiro, published in 2021 by the “New Literary Review” publishing house, is dedicated to the perception of the horseman and the horse in Russian political and religious culture. A significant merit of this book, which has been brought to the attention of readers, is the author’s exploration of the sacralization of power symbols and the attribution of sacred characteristics to these symbols. It is believed that this scholarly work will be valuable to a wide range of readers and researchers interested in Russian political and religious culture.
