The influence of pre-revolutionary Russian experience on the formation of the principle of religious tolerance in modern society

This article analyzes the historical experience that developed in Russia during the pre-revolutionary period on the issue of establishing the principle of religious tolerance in the religious sphere. The significance of the national multi-confessional system of religious governance, which was established during the reign of Catherine II, is especially emphasized. Various kinds of legal acts containing the principles of tolerance and religious tolerance are analyzed, their connection and influence with the main political milestones is traced.
