The issues of the influence of physical load on the dynamics of students' mental working capacity are considered. The retention of students’ high mental activity throughout the entire period of study at a higher education institution depends on the volume of physical load in a daily routine and an academic week. Great importance is attached to the organization of practical classes in physical culture and sports at a higher education institution and the choice of the intensity of the motor load for students. The independent physical exercises of students in a daily mode also have a great preventive value. It is substantiated that the optimization of mental activity is achieved for each student in many respects with adequate use of physical culture means, methods and modes of influence.
