A review of the literature devoted to the evaluation of therapeutic effects of statins, atorvastatin, and in particular to changes in microvascular circulation in the myocardium in patients with coronary artery disease, in combination with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM 2) after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is presented. The data on the pathological changes of the myocardium in patients with coronary artery disease associated with type 2 diabetes, the mechanisms of damage to the vessel wall and the positive effects of statins, in particular the ability to restore endothelial function and induce angiogenesis is given. Statins may contribute to the efficient functioning coronary bypass grafts and the restoration of myocardial function after CABG.
Diabetes mellitus, ischemic heart disease, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, endothelial dysfunction, myocardial morphology, statins
