Demonstrated antioxidant and efferent effects of erythropoietin (EPO) in chronic renal failure (CRF). Clinical piece performed on patients with chronic renal failure who are on hemodialysis program, a pilot -in male rats. In patients with chronic renal failure was an increase in plasma concentrations of creatinine, urea, substances of low and medium molecular weight, activated processes of free radical oxidation. The procedure has no significant effect on the level of lipid peroxidation (LPO) products and activity of enzymes of antioxidant defense. The use of EPO in CKD reduces the severity of uremic toxicity and oxidative stress. Antioxidant effect of EPO is manifested lower levels of LPO products in plasma and increased activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase. In experimental chronic renal EPO reduces the severity of uremic intoxication.
Chronic renal failure, erythropoietin, intoxication, free radical oxidation, lipid peroxidation, catalase, superoxide dismutase
